Title: Why does server say VBR
Post by: kahfluie on July 17, 2017, 05:57:13 pm
First time I have encountered this. We are streaming live and not using the autoDj... but the stream page says:

"Stream is up (MP3 @ 128 kbps (VBR), 44.1 kHz)..."

Anyone know why it's showing that? If it deals with the files being encoded, they are all constant bit rate, not variable (assuming VBR means variable bit rate).

Bumping this to hopefully above the spam posts.... anyone have thoughts on why it tells me it is (VB\R)?

Hello kahfluie,

Most live source programs re-encode the stream on-the-fly, which mans your source encoding settings are set to VBR.

Pretty sure that it's actually a Shoutcast bug that sometimes happens after a server's up for a while, they supposedly finally got it fixed after a bunch of tries, but not sure the fix has been pushed out yet...
