Title: Interval playlist not interrupting scheduled playlist
Post by: Harty on May 02, 2017, 03:14:37 am
I am using Centova v3.2.9.
I have a bundle of songs scheduled to play and want my jingles in the interval folder to play once every three tracks.
But it seems Interval folders are ignored when a Scheduled playlist is running.
This is a great shame as I see there was talk of this issue being addressed three years ago on this forum.

Hello CentreRadio,

Scheduled playlists are meant primarily for pre recorded shows, podcast and live show re-runs, and not really for general-rotation inserts, or music genre blocks.

For such functionality, it would have to be a new type of playlist most likely.

If you would like to see this implemented, you may want to submit a feature request, or make sure to vote if there is already an existing one.

Hi and thanks for replying. I have been right through the manual and got up to speed with Centova pretty quickly.
I have just one question and I am all sorted...
I have three general rotation folders. I timed each one with daily start and stop times, but they all play all the time, instead of how I planned. for example, jazz is supposed to play between 7pm and 9pm with a jingle from the jingles folder every three tracks.
70s music is between 6pm and 8pm - so a crossover of 70s and jazz for one hour - but music from both folders play all the time. There doesn't seem to be a way to stop them, despite giving them a stop time.
The only way to stop them is make them Schedules, but then I can't play the station ID jingles.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Steve

You must have at least one general rotation playlist without time restrictions otherwise Centova Cast will ignore any time restrictions on general rotation playlists to ensure that it always has tracks to play.

To elaborate, the problem here is that the autoDJ always requires that you create at least one General Rotation playlist WITHOUT any time restrictions. The reason for this is because Centova Cast always needs a playlist to "fall back" on in case nothing else is scheduled to play. (Yes, I realize you have timed your playlists so that they cover all of the hours of the day, but if anything were to go wrong with those playlists, Centova Cast needs a fallback -- it's just a failsafe mechanism.)

Because of this, if you do not create at least one General Rotation playlist without any time limits, Centova Cast ignores the time limits on ALL of your general rotation playlists, which is the situation you're in now.

In a nutshell, to resolve this, create another general rotation playlist, name it "FALLBACK" or something similar, do NOT set any time restrictions on it, set its weight to 1, and put a few tracks in it that Centova Cast can use if it ever runs out of media to play. This will instantly enable the time restrictions on the other general rotation playlists and make everything work as intended.

Thank you, that's as clear as a bell and perfectly logical.
Thank you.
